Clinical Trials

A clinical trial sets out to provide research scientists and doctors with answers to specific questions in a clinical setting. The people who volunteer for clinical trials play an indispensable role in helping find better ways to prevent, diagnose or treat certain conditions and illnesses.

WE NEED YOU! This vital work cannot happen without volunteers.

You can have a direct impact on the success of research efforts around the world by participating in an ethics approved clinical trial.

Results from our recent Type 2 Diabetes trial ‘ZAFGEN’

We are recruiting for the following Clinical Trials

Type 2 & Cardiovascular Risk (SURPASS)

Do you have Type 2 Diabetes?

We are testing an investigational medication for its effectiveness in treating Type 2 Diabetes in comparison with insulin. This study is focusing on people with an increased risk of cardiovascular events in particular.

Type 1 & Retinopathy (FAME)

Have you been diagnosed with Diabetic Retinopathy? (FAME)

We are testing the effect of a cholesterol lowering drug for its effectiveness in treating retinopathy in patients with Type 1 Diabetes. This drug, known as a fenofibrate, is already approved for treatment in Type 2 Diabetes, and it is hoped this study may expand treatment to cover Type 1 Diabetes as well.

Obesity & Cardiovascular Events (SELECT)

Have you had a heart attack or stroke?

We are testing the effect of an investigational drug and its ability to reduce cardiovascular events, such as heart attacks or strokes, in people who are overweight or obese.
